Program Manager

Platform Engineering | National

Platform Engineering National Full-time

About the Role

At MomentumAI, you’ll own programs of work aligned to our VKS (VMware vSphere Kubernetes Service) Services offerings, driving outcomes across our Launch, Scale, Manage, and Assess framework. You’ll work at the intersection of program management, platform engineering, and app modernization, translating client needs into actionable delivery plans and ensuring our services continuously evolve to meet the market.

We are seeking a Program Manager with a software development background who deeply understands the value of platform engineering, Kubernetes, containerization, and the end-to-end CI/CD journey from source code to workloads running on a Kubernetes-based platform. You will collaborate with platform engineers, architects, developers, and client stakeholders to shape service offerings, prioritize work, and deliver measurable outcomes using a “Platform as a Product” approach.

A key trait we’re looking for is the ability to maintain two complementary perspectives simultaneously. At the portfolio level, you’ll drive application discovery, disposition workloads, schedule migration waves, and handle the outliers that don’t fit neatly into standard patterns. At the platform and application level, you’ll dig into hard technical problems for individual apps or groups of apps, finding opportunities to improve the platform and build solutions that make the broader portfolio effort more effective. The best candidate moves fluidly between these two lenses, using insights from each to inform the other.

What You’ll Do

  • Program Ownership: Own app modernization and migration programs end-to-end, from application discovery and workload disposition through migration wave planning and execution, developing strategies for outlier workloads and coordinating technical workstreams with business objectives
  • Platform as a Product: Champion the “Platform as a Product” approach, ensuring our VKS services lower cognitive burden for application and data teams through self-service capabilities and golden paths
  • Client Engagement: Partner with clients to understand their VKS adoption goals, assess readiness, and translate needs into scoped programs of work. Provide clear, consistent communication to clients and internal leadership on program status, risks, and outcomes
  • Delivery Planning: Define program roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria; manage scope and prioritization across concurrent engagements
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with platform engineers, architects, and SREs to align delivery with technical best practices and client expectations
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify patterns across engagements to refine service delivery, build reusable accelerators, and improve time-to-value

Required Qualifications

Strong candidates will meet most (not necessarily all) of the following requirements.

  • 8+ years of experience in program management, technical program management, or a related role in a software or platform engineering context
  • Experience executing programs of work in a consulting, professional services, or platform engineering domain
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at both the portfolio level (discovery, disposition, wave planning) and the individual application level (solving hard technical problems that unblock the broader effort)
  • Familiarity with the “Platform as a Product” approach and internal developer platform concepts
  • Background in software development with hands-on understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, containerization, and their value proposition for enterprise workloads
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and the journey from source code to running workloads on Kubernetes
  • Remote-friendly with travel to client sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

These are nice-to-haves that strengthen your candidacy. You don’t need all of them.

  • Experience managing programs involving workload migration or application modernization
  • Experience with agile delivery frameworks in a consulting or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with SRE practices, SLOs/SLIs, and reliability-focused service delivery
  • Experience with VMware technologies, particularly VCF, VKS, and Tanzu
  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows (Argo CD, Flux) and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins), and an understanding of how these are impacted by target platform changes
  • Understanding of enterprise security and compliance requirements (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, SOC2)
  • CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) certification

Nice to Have

  • Active security clearance (TS/SCI preferred for government engagements)
  • Experience working in financial services, federal, or defense environments
  • CKA or other CNCF certifications
